I was still hitting KPIs, still fully invested in the business...
But it was assumed that my capacity was about to plummet.

At first, I internalized it.
Maybe they were right.
Maybe I wouldn’t be able to measure up anymore.
Maybe that’s just the cost of having a family.
Then I had a realization that completely shifted my perspective.
And just like that, I was out.
Four months pregnant.
Zero warning.
All that time I'd spent changing lives?
Those were formative years for my three older kids. And there are large chunks of that time with them that I genuinely can't remember.
Black holes in my memory. Gone.
I was so locked in on work, on doing my job well, on keeping everything moving, that I wasn’t fully there at home.
I ugly cried the day I realized how much I’d lost.
I'll never get those moments back.
And I'm not willing to lose any more of them.
